We believe in people, and the power they have when they partner together to create change.

When our partnership formed in 2018, we started with a big idea: That everyone in the Snoqualmie Valley deserves access to Human Services, without barriers. The Sno-Valley is geographically large, spanning over 40 miles from North Bend to Duvall, including unincorporated areas. Residents live in suburban and rural areas and often have limited access to support for transportation, housing, mental health, and beyond. Removing barriers meant that service providers would genuinely need to work with each other – not against each other – to make a change.

2018

Hopelink, Empower Youth Network, Encompass NW, Mt. Si Senior Center, and the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank came together, assembling a working group with diverse community representation, to explore how to make human services more accessible in the Snoqualmie Valley. Their collaboration became known as “A Supportive Community For All” (SCFA) project.

2019

The SCFA project commissioned a needs assessment to provide foundational information on the unique needs of valley residents to strengthen coordinated human services delivery. After reviewing the assessment, the working group decided that creating a central access point for human services could make human services more accessible in the Snoqualmie Valley.

2020

Backbone staff supported the SCFA project in launching a multi-organization navigation program, establishing a searchable resource directory online, completing a nonprofit center feasibility study, and forming a Governance Board to oversee the SCFA project.

2021

The SCFA project launched a legal non-profit to provide a home for the backbone staff and funding that supports the project. The Governance Board became the Board of Directors. With ”Equity for All” as the new organization’s vision, SCFA was set up to provide “backbone” support to community members implementing up-stream interventions in areas of health, housing, financial opportunity, and community connections.

2023

SCFA convened an advisory committee to envision and recommend a community-led governance structure that provides oversight, structure, and guidance for the work SCFA supports, such as Snoqualmie Valley Human Services Coalition.
