Safety – Respect – Support

Community Shield Network

Immigrant and refugee families are an integral part of the Snoqualmie Valley’s culture, workforce, and community life. Yet many face unique challenges, language barriers, legal uncertainties, discrimination, and gaps in culturally responsive services. The Community Shield Network Working Group is led by Misty Messer from CarePoint, and brings partners together to ensure that immigrant residents feel safe, supported, and empowered.

Our Purpose

This group unites social service providers, legal advocates, cultural community leaders, and organizations serving immigrant families to identify needs, reduce barriers, and coordinate resources that honor the dignity and contributions of immigrant community members.

What We Do

  • Improve access to trusted, culturally responsive services, including legal support, language access, and navigation assistance.

  • Identify safety concerns and advocate for systems that protect immigrant families.

  • Collaborate with cultural communities and leaders to understand lived experiences and elevate community priorities.

  • Provide outreach, education, and resource-sharing tailored to immigrant residents.

  • Promote equity-driven policies that expand opportunity and reduce harm.

Why It Matters

When immigrant families feel unsafe or unsupported, their ability to access health services, maintain stability, and participate in community life is severely impacted. By building coordinated systems of care, we help create a welcoming Valley where all people, regardless of where they come from, can belong and thrive.

Our Vision

A Snoqualmie Valley where immigrant and refugee community members feel protected, uplifted, and fully included in the life of the region.
