We believe in people, and the power they have when they partner together to create change.

We believe in people, and the power they have when they partner together to create change.

When our partnership formed in 2018, we started with a big idea: That everyone in the Snoqualmie Valley deserves access to Human Services, without barriers. The Sno-Valley is geographically large, spanning over 40 miles from North Bend to Duvall, including unincorporated areas. Residents live in suburban and rural areas and often have limited access to support for transportation, housing, mental health, and beyond. Removing barriers meant that service providers would genuinely need to work with each other – not against each other – to make a change.

Equity Leadership Skills

We actively practice equity leadership skills introduced to us by DEI consultants Andrea Lising Paull and Fleur Larsen. A few examples of these skills include: listening actively to understand, sharing air space, being open to feedback, and asking clarifying questions. We believe that practicing these skills is a crucial component to transforming how human services work together in the Snoqualmie Valley.

Learning

We are establishing a shared learning program for navigation program partners to ensure that all coalition partners, regardless of size and budget, have access to learning opportunities that enable them to serve community members with dignity and respect. This learning program will focus on developing knowledge, skills, and values that enable them to meet the needs of diverse populations, strengthen helping skills, and gain technical skills needed to use Julota, our shared case management platform.

Resilience

We create space in our partnership for inner work and healing practices to reduce burnout and support resilience of direct service providers. We infuse these opportunities throughout regularly monthly meetings by creating space for reflection and connection, as well as creating stand-alone events for ourselves and community members most impacted by inequities to attend that emphasize healing.

Community-led Governance

In 2023, A Supportive Community For All convened an advisory committee with diverse representation to develop recommendations for community-led governance with the support of consultant Victor Rodriguez of alterNative Consulting, which we will implement in 2024. By establishing a governance model led by community members, we are operationalizing community engagement and leadership and centering community experience and voice in determining the direction and priorities of our partnership.
